The Coolray, a B-segment urban SUV

The Geely Coolray is the export version of the Geely Binyue, launched in China in August 2018. It is a B-segment SUV, the category of the Peugeot 2008, Renault Captur and Volkswagen T-Cross, built on the manufacturer’s BMA platform.

Its international career began in the Philippines in September 2019, where it quickly became one of the best-selling Chinese models. Vietnam followed in March 2025 and South Africa in June 2026, along with several North African markets including Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria.

One model, several badges

The Coolray is unusual in existing under different names depending on the market:

• Geely Binyue in China, its home market
• Geely Coolray for export, notably in South East Asia, Africa and North Africa
• Proton X50 in Malaysia, Proton being a Geely group subsidiary
• BelGee X50 in Belarus and Russia since 2023

Is the Coolray available in France?

No, the Geely Coolray is not sold in France. When Geely Auto France confirmed its arrival on the French market in April 2026, the brand built its range around electrified models, in line with European CO2 regulations and local demand.

A turbocharged petrol SUV such as the Coolray, without electrification on its most widely sold versions, does not fit that positioning. It has never been homologated for Western Europe nor tested by Euro NCAP.

Used and imported units

A few Coolrays nonetheless circulate in France, from individual imports or export vehicles. Listings on used car platforms place these units between €19,990 and €23,000 depending on mileage and model year. For reference, the new model starts at 72,800 dinars in Tunisia.

This route calls for caution: no manufacturer warranty in France, homologation to be verified case by case, and parts that do not circulate through the French network.
