Looking for a Geely EX5 dealer France runs into a wall fairly quickly: the electric SUV is genuinely on sale in France, yet no distributor lists it under that name. In France the EX5 is called the E5. Same car, same platform, same battery, two names depending on the market.
The second obstacle is more ordinary. Geely Auto does not sell directly and hands its entire distribution to independent groups, whose network is still being built. Around ten operators have been announced since the brand launched in late April 2026, for 38 confirmed addresses and a target of 70 sales points by year end.
In short:
- The Geely EX5 is sold in France as the E5, from 37,990 € to 41,990 € in Pro+ trim, with 475 km of WLTP range and a 68.4 kWh LFP battery
- Around ten groups distribute it: Como (8 sites), Maurin (7), BYmyCAR (6), Amplitude (5), Auto Réal, Baldassari Automobiles and Elypse Autos (3 each), Select Auto, Schumpp Automobiles and Moretto (1 each)
- Como is the only distributor based in the Greater Paris area and the densest network in the country with its eight dealerships
- The E5 qualifies for no ecological bonus, its environmental score sitting below the 60 out of 80 threshold. Every price lever therefore shifts to the dealer: trade-in, a launch lease at 299 € per month and allocation lead times

Where to buy a Geely EX5 in France: the distributor comparison
The four groups below account for 24 of the 38 Geely dealerships announced. The comparison does not cover prices, which the importer locks, but what genuinely differs: the territory covered, the group’s track record on electric vehicles and its technical proximity to Geely.
| Criterion | Como | Maurin | BYmyCAR | Elypse Autos |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Geely dealerships announced | 8 | 7 | 6 | 3 |
| Territory covered | Greater Paris area | Alps and Mediterranean arc | Lyon and French Riviera | Alsace, Franche-Comté, Lorraine |
| Geely group brands already retailed | smart, a 50/50 joint venture between Mercedes-Benz Group and Geely Holding | Volvo, across 6 sites | none identified | Volvo, Polestar and Lynk & Co |
| Other franchises operated | Mercedes-Benz, smart, Lexus | 22 brands, 135 dealerships | multi-brand including Mercedes-Benz | Volvo, Polestar, Lynk & Co |
| Rollout status | 8 sites trading | openings by the end of August 2026 | announced on 9 July 2026 | sites trading |
| Verdict | The only option in the Greater Paris area, with a workshop already servicing Geely group electric vehicles | The widest coverage outside Greater Paris, spread across two distant zones | Strong density around Lyon, four sites in the metropolitan area | The closest technical kinship, three brands from the same shareholder |
The full network, as it stands after the successive announcements of spring and summer 2026, breaks down as follows.
| Group | Geely dealerships | Cities |
|---|---|---|
| Como | 8 | Paris 12th, Paris 17th, Colombes, Fontenay-sous-Bois, Stains, Vélizy, Port-Marly, Pontoise |
| Maurin | 7 | Annemasse, Annecy, Chambéry, Grenoble, Avignon, Nîmes, Montpellier |
| BYmyCAR | 6 | Vaulx-en-Velin, Rillieux-la-Pape, Champagne-au-Mont-d’Or, Saint-Fons, Villeneuve-Loubet, Le Cannet |
| Amplitude | 5 | Orléans, Auxerre, Troyes, Dijon, Besançon |
| Auto Réal | 3 | Bordeaux, Toulouse, Perpignan |
| Baldassari Automobiles | 3 | Marseille, Toulon, Fréjus |
| Elypse Autos | 3 | Mulhouse, Belfort, Épinal |
| Select Auto | 1 | La Rochelle |
| Schumpp Automobiles | 1 | Haguenau |
| Moretto | 1 | Reims |
Two areas remain uncovered in mid-2026: Brittany and the west above La Rochelle, and the Hauts-de-France and Normandy block. A buyer in Rennes or Lille therefore faces a round trip of several hundred kilometres for the test drive and for the first service alike, which weighs more heavily on an electric vehicle than on a combustion model.
The Geely EX5 is sold as the E5 in France
The dual naming comes from homologation. The model passed the European Euro NCAP tests under the EX5 reference, earning five stars, while the version marketed in France carries the E5 name. French catalogues, order forms and registration documents all use the latter.
Behind both names sits a single powertrain, developed on the GEA platform (Geely Intelligent Architecture) dedicated to electric vehicles. The full breakdown appears in our Geely E5 specs and price file, but the figures worth memorising before a dealership appointment fit on one line: 4,615 mm long, a 160 kW motor rated at 218 hp, 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds, 475 km of WLTP range and a stated consumption of 16 kWh per 100 km.
Watch out for a mix-up with another model in the French line-up. The Geely EX2 is an electric city car starting at 20,990 €, unrelated to the SUV in size or in price. Asking for an EX5 at a dealership therefore invites two consecutive misunderstandings, first on the name, then on the segment.
With no ecological bonus, the dealer becomes the only price lever
The E5 opens no entitlement to state aid. The 2026 ecological bonus demands an environmental score of at least 60 points out of 80, calculated by Ademe across the vehicle’s whole life cycle, battery manufacturing and transport included. An SUV assembled in China falls below that threshold whatever its performance in use.
The scheme’s two other conditions are met, with a price under 47,000 € including tax and a mass below 2,400 kg. The barrier is geographic, not financial.
That zero changes how the car is bought. On an eligible model, the subsidy flattens the gaps between distributors. Here there is no cushion: the discount, the trade-in value and the monthly payment come entirely out of the negotiation with the dealer.
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| List price | 37,990 € to 41,990 € (Pro+ trim) |
| Ecological bonus | 0 €, model not eligible |
| CO2 penalty and weight penalty | 0 €, fully electric vehicle |
| Launch long-term lease | from 299 € per month including tax |
| Contract term and mileage | 48 months, 40,000 km |
| First payment, Pro trim | 4,900 € including tax |
| Launch offer ends | 30 September 2026 |
| Manufacturer warranty | 8 years or 200,000 km, 3 years roadside assistance |
That 299 € figure deserves a close reading. It assumes a 4,900 € first payment, close to 13 % of the list price, and a 40,000 km ceiling over four years, meaning 10,000 km a year. Beyond that, the cost per additional kilometre is negotiated site by site.
Como, the only Geely network in the Greater Paris area
Eight dealerships, all in the Paris region: Paris 12th, Paris 17th, Colombes, Fontenay-sous-Bois, Stains, Vélizy, Port-Marly and Pontoise. No other Geely distributor operates in the region, which makes Como the mandatory stop for a Paris buyer, and the country’s largest network by number of sites ahead of Maurin and its seven openings.
The group also runs 16 Mercedes-Benz, smart and Lexus outlets, with more than 500 staff and around 8,500 vehicles delivered a year. Prices and test drives for the Geely E5 are detailed on the Como group website.
One detail slips past every distributor comparison, including our own on the best Geely dealer. smart has been a 50/50 joint venture between Mercedes-Benz Group and Geely Holding since 2019, and its recent models sit on an electric platform engineered by Geely. Como’s four smart dealerships have therefore been servicing fully electric vehicles built on the engineering of the group that produces the E5 for several years.
It is the only such case among Paris-region distributors, and one of only two across the national network alongside Elypse Autos, which already retailed Volvo, Polestar and Lynk & Co.
High-voltage certification, the criterion nobody checks
Working on the battery of an electric vehicle is not ordinary mechanical work. The French NF C18-550 standard, recommended by the decree of 20 November 2017, requires a named certification for any technician called to work on a high-voltage circuit, and the legal basis sits in articles R4141-13, R4141-14 and R4544-3 of the French Labour Code.
“Everyone working on hybrid and electric vehicles falls under NF C18-550 electrical certification: mechanics, body repairers, maintenance technicians, breakdown and recovery operators.” NF C18-550 training framework, 2025
The levels are not equivalent. B0L covers non-electrical work and takes a single day. B2VL, BRL and BCL, which cover live work, interventions and isolation of the circuit, require three days of initial training and a refresher every three years.
Here is the sticking point: no distributor publishes the number of B2VL-certified technicians per site. Across a network where half the addresses opened between June and August 2026, the gap between a workshop seasoned on electric vehicles and a brand new site appears nowhere. The question therefore has to be asked out loud before signing, not at the first service visit.
A simple wording does the job: how many high-voltage certified technicians work at this site, and if the answer is none, which workshop in the group will the car go to for a battery diagnosis.
On a plug-in hybrid, the same question carries a combustion component too, since the petrol engine keeps its own servicing schedule. That two-tier configuration is covered in our comparison of Geely Starray dealers.
Charging, V2L and test drive: three checks to run at the dealership
The first check concerns the charger. The E5 accepts fast charging able to go from 30 % to 80 % in 20 minutes, but that performance requires a DC charger of at least 150 kW. A site fitted with a plain 11 kW AC wallbox, on which a full charge takes around eight hours from a 7 kW supply, allows neither a check of the charging curve nor delivery of a vehicle at 100 %.
The second check is real-world range. The 475 km WLTP figure corresponds to 16 kWh per 100 km, a value reachable on a mixed cycle and rarely on the motorway. An hour-long test drive on a dual carriageway with the consumption readout open says more than the spec sheet. For mostly motorway use, the plug-in hybrid in the line-up remains a serious alternative, covered in our file on the Geely Starray EM-i.
The third check is the least requested. The E5 carries a V2L function, which powers an external appliance from the vehicle battery. The adapter is not always supplied as standard and few salespeople demonstrate it unprompted. An explicit request during the test drive settles both its presence and the power available.
That leaves lead times. Demonstration vehicles are limited to one or two per site during the first months, and new vehicle allocations vary from one distributor to another. Price and availability benchmarks by model are gathered in our guide to buying a Geely in France.
Frequently asked questions
Which is the best dealer for a Geely EX5?
On network coverage, Como leads with eight Geely dealerships, all in the Greater Paris area, followed by the Maurin group and its seven openings scheduled by the end of August 2026, then BYmyCAR (6 sites) and Amplitude (5). Auto Réal, Baldassari Automobiles and Elypse Autos each run three, while Select Auto, Schumpp Automobiles and Moretto have one apiece. Since list prices and the 8-year or 200,000 km warranty are both set by the importer, the decision comes down to two concrete points: how far away the nearest site is, and whether it employs technicians certified to work on a high-voltage battery. Como is the only distributor based in the Greater Paris area and the only one whose workshops already service electric vehicles from the Geely group, through smart.
Are the Geely EX5 and the Geely E5 the same car?
Yes. EX5 is the model’s international designation, the one used for its Euro NCAP homologation in Europe. In France the SUV is sold as the E5. Same GEA architecture, same 68.4 kWh LFP battery on the higher trim, same 160 kW (218 hp) motor and the same 475 km WLTP range. Searching for an EX5 on a French distributor’s website returns nothing: the reference to ask for at the dealership is E5.
Does the Geely EX5 qualify for the French ecological bonus?
No, the amount is 0 €. The 2026 ecological bonus requires an environmental score of at least 60 points out of 80, calculated by Ademe across the vehicle’s full life cycle, including manufacturing, battery and transport. As the E5 is assembled in China, its score falls below the threshold. The scheme’s two other conditions, a price under 47,000 € including tax and a mass below 2,400 kg, are both met. The vehicle remains exempt from the CO2 penalty and the weight penalty.
How much does a Geely EX5 cost at a dealership?
List prices run from 37,990 € for the entry version to 41,990 € for the Pro+ trim, identical across every distributor since they are set by the importer. The launch long-term lease starts at 299 € per month including tax over 48 months and 40,000 km, with a 4,900 € first payment on the Pro trim, until 30 September 2026. What varies from one dealer to another is the trade-in value of the old vehicle, the accessories and the delivery time depending on the allocations received.
Where can you test drive a Geely EX5 near Paris?
The Como group’s eight Geely dealerships cover Paris 12th, Paris 17th, Colombes, Fontenay-sous-Bois, Stains, Vélizy, Port-Marly and Pontoise. No other distributor operates in the region. Demonstration vehicles are limited to one or two per site during the first months of operation, which makes booking a test drive slot in advance the only reliable option.
