New A-Class price in 2026: €39,750 to €86,100

The A-Class price starts at €39,750 in France, the list price of the A 180 136 hp in Star Edition or Edition 140 trim. The top of the price list reaches €86,100 with Mercedes-AMG versions.

Between those two figures, the range reads along two axes: the engine and the trim level. Four combustion engines and one plug-in hybrid make up the 2026 line-up, all fitted as standard with a dual-clutch automatic gearbox (7G-DCT on petrol, 8G-DCT on diesel and hybrid).

Prices version by version

The step from the A 180 to the A 200 comes down to 27 hp and €2,250 in Progressive Line trim. On the road, the difference shows when pulling away uphill and when overtaking on the motorway, rarely anywhere else.

The A 250 e plug-in hybrid plays a different game. Its homologated 53 g/km of CO2 keeps it clear of the French ecological penalty that applies to the combustion versions, all rated between 128 and 134 g/km. On a company fleet, the annual tax saving absorbs part of the €7,300 premium over an A 200.

What the AMG Line step costs

Trim level weighs almost as much as the engine in the final invoice. On an A 180 petrol, the price list steps up as follows: €39,750 in Star Edition, €40,000 in Progressive Line, €40,800 in Business Line, €42,300 in AMG Line, €45,650 in AMG Exclusive Design.

That is €5,900 between both ends, with the same engine. The AMG Line step costs €2,300 and brings cosmetics only: wheels, bumpers and upholstery. On a car meant for resale after three years, that gap is not fully recovered, but it clearly widens the pool of used-car buyers. AMG Exclusive Design remains hard to justify unless a well-valued trade-in is part of the deal.

Hatchback or Saloon: a €100 gap at identical trim

The A-Class comes in two body styles: the five-door hatchback and the Saloon with a separate boot. The Saloon starts at €40,100 as an A 180 136 hp Progressive Line, against €40,000 for the hatchback in the same configuration. One hundred euros separate the two silhouettes at identical equipment level.

The headline gap is misleading: the hatchback goes down to €39,750 thanks to the Star Edition and Edition 140 series, absent from the Saloon price list. The real difference sits at the top, where the Saloon peaks at €64,600 with the 306 hp Mercedes-AMG A 35 4Matic, while the hatchback pushes to €86,100.

Used A-Class price: from €15,000 to €33,000

The used market halves the invoice, sometimes more. Three price tiers stand out depending on the generation.

A July 2026 listing illustrates the middle of the market: a 2022 A 180 d 116 hp Style Line with 42,800 km sells for €25,900. At an authorised distributor in the Paris region, used A-Class stock runs from €20,890 to €32,890, with manufacturer warranty and a verified service book.

The A 200 petrol remains the most sought-after version second hand, available from €23,000, first because it holds its value better than the small-capacity diesels. The maths flip beyond 25,000 km a year, the point where the A 180 d becomes cheaper to run again.

One trap to avoid: the W176 under €15,000. The first-generation 7G-DCT gearbox and its dual clutch, billed between €1,500 and €2,500 through the network, quickly turn a bargain into a money pit. Monthly cost on a lease

The A-Class price question increasingly comes down to euros per month. Mercedes-Benz long-term lease offers start at €350 per month with no deposit, for an A 180 Star Edition over 45,000 km. Online brokers advertise monthly payments around €312 on equivalent entry-level versions.

Three parameters drive the monthly payment: the deposit, the annual mileage and the buy-back value. A €5,000 deposit cuts around €130 per month over 36 months. Moving from 10,000 to 20,000 km a year adds €40 to €60.

The five items that move the final price

The list price is only a starting point. Five lines explain most of the gap between the advertised price and the final cheque.

1. The commercial discount. At an authorised dealership it ranges from 4 to 8% on an in-stock car, and exceeds 10% on an end-of-model-year or showroom vehicle. Online brokers advertise up to 25% on some versions, with an entry price recorded at €38,119 in July 2026, but with no valued trade-in and no local workshop.
2. Options. The Premium package, panoramic roof and 19-inch wheels easily add €3,000 to €5,000. The MBUX system, on the other hand, is standard across the range.
3. The ecological penalty. Combustion versions, homologated between 128 and 134 g/km of CO2, are subject to it. The A 250 e plug-in hybrid, at 53 g/km, is not.
4. The trade-in. Valued face to face and stackable with the discount, it often weighs more than an extra point of discount.
5. Incidental fees. Registration, marking, plates and accessories account for €300 to €800, best discussed at the end of the negotiation, once the price of the car itself is settled.
